I had a yummy, delicious burger in absolutely no time. There I was comfortably situated on my favorite couch, watching one of my favorite shows on television (Master Chef-India) and munching away at my creation. -Mona
Servings : 5
For the Veggie Patty:
Core spices and flavorings -
1/4 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp red cayenne pepper
Secondary Spices -
2 green chillies (optional)
Other Ingredients -
1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
1 cup chopped and steamed vegetables (like green beans, peas, carrots)
1 tsp salt (or to taste)
4 shallots chopped fine
2 slices bread
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 tbs oil
For the burger:
5 Burger buns (I use the thin wheat kind but any other can be used)
4 tbs chopped cilantro
2 cups baby spinach leaves
5 slices of cheese (any)
5 tbs tomato chutney
Mix the steamed vegetables with the mashed potatoes and add the garlic paste, salt, cumin and pepper to this and knead well.
Add the shallots and green chillies and mix.
Soak the two slices of bread in water, squeeze out the water and crumble and knead the bread into this mixture.
Add 2 tbs of the bread crumb into this and knead into a firm dough.
Divide this dough into 5 equal parts and form balls and flatten these balls into patties and coat in the remaining bread crumbs.
Shallow fry the patties in hot oil until they are a golden brown on both sides.
Spread the tomato chutney on the burger buns.
Place the veggie patties, cheese and spinach leaves on the buns and garnish with cilantro.
