Core Spices and Flavorings -
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1-2 tsp of additional cinnamon for sprinkling on top
1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1-2 tsp additional sugar for sprinkling on top
8-10 slices of sliced French Bread
Melt the butter in a 10 x 15 inch pan (I used a smaller pan) in the oven.
Take the pan out and move it around to spread the butter all over.
Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar over the buttered pan.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Whisk the eggs and milk.
Soak the slices of bread in the egg and milk mix. Make sure it is well soaked. I let mine soak for about 5 minutes.
Arrange the slices over the buttered and sugared baking pan. Pour any excess egg and milk mixture over the slices.
Bake in the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Sprinkle the cardamom and some additional cinammon and sugar once the French Toast is out of the oven. (I had some Cinnamon Sugar so I used that, and sprinkled about 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons on the top).
Cut it out and serve warm with or without syrup.
